LEXINGTON — The Tiffin Columbian Girls Track team had a great night at the Division 2 Regional Finals at Lexington High School. The Tornadoes competed against the best athletes in the region, bringing home a spot in the state tournament and a podium finish.

Caroline Newlove earned a trip to next week's State Championships with an amazing race in the 300-meter hurdles. She ran a fast time of 45.01 to finish in 3rd place. Since the top five finishers in each event move on to the state meet, Newlove officially qualified to compete next weekend at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus.

In the field events, Tara Duffy stepped up big for the Tornadoes in the discus throw. She threw a distance of 113 feet, 8 inches (113-08) to take 8th place. Her top-eight finish earned her a spot on the regional podium to celebrate a great season.

While the regional meet wraps up the team season for Columbian, Newlove will keep running next week as she represents the Tornadoes at the state championship.
