Fremont - The Tiffin Columbian doubles pair of Dravyn Dicken and Brock Siesel extended their season Thursday, securing a spot in the district tournament with a runner-up finish at the Division I sectional tournament at Fremont Ross. The duo spearheaded a productive day for the Tornadoes, navigating a crowded field to ensure Columbian representation in the next round of the postseason.

Dravyn Dicken and Brock Siesel punched their ticket to Port Clinton with a clinical display of tennis. After receiving an opening-round bye, the duo wasted no time asserting their authority, dispatching Fremont’s Casen Schwochow and Logan Wensinger in a swift 6-1, 6-1 victory. Their momentum carried into the semifinals, where they neutralized the Norwalk pairing of Roman Snyder and Edward Ramos with a 6-0, 6-3 win. Although Dicken and Siesel ultimately fell to Ashland’s Grant Koleno and Grant White in a hard-fought final, 7-5, 6-1, their second-place finish ensures their season continues next Wednesday at the district level.

The Tornadoes nearly saw a second doubles team advance deep into the bracket. Parker Nye and Liam Randell opened their day with a solid 6-2, 6-4 win over Sandusky’s Liam Chamberlain and Ian Stiner. However, their run was halted in a grueling three-set marathon against Norwalk’s Snyder and Ramos. Despite a spirited 6-0 second-set comeback, Nye and Randell were unable to maintain the edge, falling 6-2, 0-6, 6-2.

The competitive depth of the sectional was on full display in other matches as well. Grant Blonde and Jarrett Jaeck found themselves in a back-and-forth battle against Norwalk’s Levi Dickerson and Jack Pittenger, but despite taking the second set, they were edged out in a 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 heartbreaker. In singles action, Brady Miller faced a tough draw against Fremont’s Carson Lewis, bowing out in a 6-1, 6-0 decision. While the day brought its share of narrow defeats, the focus now shifts to the district stage as Dicken and Siesel prepare to represent the Tornadoes against the region's best.
