Port Clinton - The Tiffin Middle School boys track and field team battled to a fourth-place finish at the SBC Lake Division Championships, racking up 88 points in a competitive field. The Tornadoes finished ahead of Norwalk and Sandusky, while Briar Middle School took the team title followed by Bellevue and Clyde McPherson.

Tiffin’s efforts were headlined by two standout individual champions. Ryder Smith proved to be the fastest athlete in the division, sprinting to a first-place finish in the 100m dash with a time of 12.24. On the distance side, Garrett Plikerd delivered a dominant performance in the 1600m run, securing the gold medal with a time of 5:08.85. Plikerd also showcased his range by picking up a fifth-place finish in the 800m and anchoring the 4x800 relay team—consisting of Luke Miller, Colten Whitmer, and Bishop Kisabeth—to a sixth-place finish.

The Tornadoes' relay teams were a major source of scoring throughout the meet. The 4x200 unit of Adrian Beers, Ryder Smith, Maxwell Taylor, and Jentson Halcomb surged to a runner-up finish, clocking in at 1:40.91. Tiffin also saw success in the 4x100 relay, where Smith and Beers teamed up with Patrick Beers and Jaxon Weickert for fourth place, and the 4x400 relay, where Patrick Beers, Jerid Schatzinger, Jayden Morris, and Maxwell Taylor fought for fifth.

In the field, Jentson Halcomb nearly added another gold to the Tiffin tally, leaping 17-8 to take second place in the long jump. Jaxon Weickert contributed a strong fifth-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 36-7.5, and Connor Fritts cleared 7-0 in the pole vault to secure fifth.

Additional points came from the sprints and hurdles, where Adrian Beers took fourth in the 200m and Jayden Morris placed sixth in the 400m. Maxwell Taylor followed in eighth in the 400m. In the hurdle events, Morris and Dylan Snyder finished seventh and eighth in the 110 hurdles, while Halcomb and Schatzinger took fifth and eighth in the 200 hurdles, ensuring the Tornadoes remained a consistent threat across every discipline on the track.

Unofficially, Ryder Smith has qualified for next week's Middle School State Championships
