Port Clinton - The Tiffin Middle School girls track and field team delivered an outstanding performance at the SBC Lake Division Championships, securing a hard-fought third-place finish in a competitive field of six teams. Tiffin finished with 160 points, trailing only Norwalk (191) and Briar Middle School (163), while comfortably leading Clyde McPherson, Bellevue, and Sandusky.

The highlight of the meet came from the distance squad, where the 4x800 relay team of Brynn Moyer, Grace Welly, Ella Woodruff, and Cora Quinlan etched their names into the history books. The quartet captured first place and shattered the school record with a blistering time of 10:28.91. Ella Woodruff continued her dominance in the individual distance events, taking home the gold in the 1600m with a time of 5:43.78, while Quinlan added a fifth-place finish in the same event. In the 800m, Moyer took fourth and Welly finished eighth to round out the distance scoring.

Tiffin’s field event athletes were equally impressive, anchored by Kami Beaston’s championship performance in the shot put. Beaston took first place with a massive toss of 39-4, while teammate Zoey Allen secured eighth. Both Beaston and Allen also placed in the discus, finishing seventh and eighth respectively. The high jump saw a dominant one-two punch from the Tornadoes, as Jennifer Lacer cleared 4-8 to win the event, followed immediately by Leighton Tanner in second place at 4-4.

Tanner proved to be a versatile force for Tiffin, adding a second-place finish in the long jump (14-3.5) and contributing to the sixth-place 4x100 relay team alongside Olivia Webb, Kennedy Lawrence, and Lilianna Donnersbach. Emerson Hoyda also scored in the long jump, taking fifth place. In the pole vault, Dixie Allen cleared 6-6 to earn a silver medal, while Lawrence finished seventh.

On the track, the hurdle events saw Faith Melick claim fifth in the 200 hurdles, while Lily Hinke showcased her endurance by placing eighth in both the 100 and 200 hurdles. The sprinting crew held their own as Layla Green and Aliyah Link finished fifth and seventh in the 400m. The duo then teamed up with Lacer and Webb to take fourth in the 4x200 relay. Closing out the meet, the 4x400 relay team of Moyer, Welly, Quinlan, and Woodruff capped off a successful championship run by taking third place with a time of 4:30.74.

Unofficially, the 4x800 Team and Kami Beaston have qualified for next week's OHSAA Middle School State Championships.
