Sandusky - The Columbian Junior Varsity Tornadoes brought an explosive offensive display to the diamond on Friday, outlasting Sandusky in a high-scoring 22-11 victory. The game was a showcase of aggressive hitting and lightning-fast baserunning, headlined by a standout performance from Frankie Miller, who went 4-for-5 at the plate. Miller ignited the Tornadoes' offense early and often, recording a triple in the second inning followed by a string of singles in the third, fifth, and seventh.

While Sandusky struck first in the opening frame following a line out by Adri Rankins, Columbian quickly took control in the top of the second. The Tornadoes surged ahead when Miller’s triple drove in a run, Brookelynn Rochester drew a RBI walk, and Bailey Barnes connected for a two-run single. They continued to build momentum in the third, adding two more runs courtesy of ground outs from Ariella Banks and Allie Temples.

The floodgates truly opened in the fifth inning, where Columbian exploded for 11 runs on just four hits. The inning was characterized by sharp extra-base hits and a disciplined eye at the plate, featuring a two-run double by Banks and RBI doubles from both Kaylani MacDonald and Audrey Sharp. The Tornadoes capitalized on 17 total walks during the contest, with Autumn England leading the way by drawing four free passes. Sandusky attempted a comeback in the bottom of the fifth, racking up five runs on four hits fueled by RBI walks and a single from K’Mia Carter, but the deficit proved too large to overcome.

Autumn England earned the victory in the circle, navigating seven innings of work. The right-hander struck out four and allowed 11 runs on seven hits. On the opposite side, Nollie Blair went the distance for Sandusky, striking out nine in a gritty performance despite the heavy offensive pressure from the Columbian lineup.

The story of the game, beyond the 15-hit barrage from the Tornadoes, was the frantic pace on the base paths. Columbian set a blistering tempo with 38 stolen bases, as Banks, Temples, Barnes, Sharp, England, Rochester, and Miller all recorded multiple steals. Sandusky was equally aggressive when they reached, tallying 24 stolen bases of their own. Defensively, both teams remained remarkably composed despite the high score, with neither side committing a single error. Bailey Barnes anchored the Columbian defense with eight chances, while Na’ziya Campbell led Sandusky with 10 plays in the field.

Following this dominant offensive showing, the Columbian Junior Varsity Tornadoes will look to carry their momentum into Saturday's matchup vs Norwalk
