Tiffin - The Tiffin Columbian boys tennis team improved to 9-7 on the season with a convincing 4-1 road victory over Upper Sandusky. The Tornadoes showcased their strength across the lineup, led by a dominant performance at the top of the singles bracket and a clean sweep in doubles.
Dravyn Dicken set a strong pace at first singles with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Nick Neset, while Brock Siesel followed with a nearly perfect 6-1, 6-0 victory at second singles. Upper Sandusky’s lone point came in a hard-fought third singles match, where Gage McWilliams edged out Brady Miller 7-6 (7-4), 7-5.
Columbian’s doubles teams remained unshakable to seal the match. Parker Nye and Liam Randell took care of business at first doubles with a 6-2, 6-4 win. The second doubles team of Jarrett Jaeck and Grant Blonde provided the afternoon's most dramatic finish; after splitting sets, they powered through a 10-4 third-set tiebreak to secure their victory.
The Tornadoes' success extended into the junior varsity ranks, where the pairs of Lucas Widman and Austin King, Ian Cortez and Skyler Helmstetter, and Jack Dell and Jackson Vallery all walked away as winners. Following this momentum, the team prepares to travel to the Fremont Doubles Tournament this Friday.
