Norwalk - TC Varsity Baseball struggled to find their rhythm on Monday afternoon, falling 6-2 in a road contest that saw their early offensive spark extinguished by a dominant opposing pitching performance. Despite a disciplined start, the Tornadoes were unable to claw back after a mid-game deficit left them chasing the lead.
The game began with promise for Columbian in the second inning. Blake Tucker sparked the offense with a sharp single that drove in the opening run, giving the Tornadoes a 1-0 advantage. However, the momentum shifted quickly in the bottom half of the frame, and the Tornadoes soon found themselves trailing 2-1.
The deficit widened in the third inning as the opposition added two more runs to the board. Jamison Woessner took the loss for the Tornadoes, pitching three innings and allowing four runs on six hits. While he managed to strike out four without issuing a walk, the early surge by the home team proved difficult to overcome.
Offensively, the Tornadoes finished the day with five hits. Tucker led the way with a 1-for-2 performance and the team’s lone RBI. Conner Reese, Johnny Bremyer, Braden Egbert, and Kyle Hepp each collected a hit, but the lineup struggled to find the timely connection needed to bypass a pitcher who racked up 11 strikeouts over seven innings.
Columbian will look to shake off the loss on the road as they prepare to travel to Clyde for their next matchup this Wednesday.
