Bucyrus - The TMS boys track and field team put up a valiant effort at the Wynford Invitational, securing a strong second-place finish in a crowded field of thirteen teams. Accumulating 87.5 points, TMS finished comfortably ahead of third-place Lucas (60.5) while trailing only the meet champions from Upper Sandusky, who totaled 113 points.
Garrett Plikerd provided one of the day’s biggest highlights, capturing a first-place victory in the 1600m run with a time of 5:12.40. Plikerd proved to be a workhorse for the team, also taking fourth in the 800m and anchoring the 4x800 relay team—alongside Luke Miller, Robert Miller, and Colten Whitmer—to a third-place finish.
In the sprints, Ryder Smith was a consistent force, placing third in the 200m (26.05) and fourth in the 100m. He also joined Maxwell Taylor, Jentson Halcomb, and Adrian Beers to claim second place in the 4x200 relay with a time of 1:42.63. The relay success continued in the 4x400, where the team of Patrick Beers, Jerid Schatzinger, Jayden Morris, and Maxwell Taylor locked in third place.
The field events were headlined by Jaxon Weickert, who dominated the shot put with a winning toss of 41-2. Jentson Halcomb added significant points in the sand, leaping 17-3.25 to take third in the long jump, while Connor Fritts rounded out the field scoring with an eighth-place finish in the pole vault.
On the hurdles, Dylan Snyder powered his way to fifth in the 110m hurdles, and the duo of Jentson Halcomb and Jerid Schatzinger finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 200m hurdles. Other notable performances included Maxwell Taylor and Jayden Morris placing fourth and sixth in the 400m, ensuring that TMS remained a threat in nearly every event on the schedule.
