TIFFIN — The Columbian varsity softball team dropped a 17-0 decision to a hot-hitting Bellevue squad. Despite the lopsided result, the Tornadoes showed persistence as they worked through a challenging five innings.
The defensive highlight of the afternoon came when Columbian’s infield remained locked in to turn a double play, providing a bright spot during Bellevue’s early offensive surge. Gabby Shock showed plenty of durability on the mound, pitching the duration of the contest.
At the plate, the Tornadoes struggled to find a rhythm against Bellevue’s pitching, which held Columbian hitless on the day. However, the team remained disciplined enough to draw a walk and keep competing through every at-bat.
Columbian will aim to put this one behind them quickly and reset for their next home appearance. The Tornadoes return to action this Friday when they host Norwalk.
