TIFFIN — Both teams featured strong performances on the mound Wednesday, but the Columbian Tornadoes couldn't quite find the timely hitting needed to overcome a tough opponent, falling 3-1.
Jamison Woessner turned in a gritty performance for Columbian, keeping the Tornadoes in the hunt throughout the contest. Woessner recorded 18 outs over six innings of work, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out seven and issuing three walks.
Offensively, the Tornadoes struggled to manufacture runs against a sharp pitching performance from the visitors. Conner Reese, Braden Egbert, and Kyle Hepp each collected a hit for Columbian, but the bats were largely held in check. The Tornadoes managed to scratch across one unearned run, but were unable to close the gap late in the game.
Columbian will look to bounce back and find their rhythm at the plate this Friday when they return home to face Norwalk.
