Clyde - It was a strong showing for the Tiffin Middle School boys track team on Monday as they squared off against Clyde, Port Clinton, Old Fort, and Margaretta. While team scores were not reported for the multi-team meet, the Tornadoes' individual and relay performances frequently topped the leaderboards.
Maxwell Taylor highlighted the individual track events, sprinting to a first-place finish in the 400m with a time of 59.08. Taylor was joined on the podium in that event by teammate Jayden Morris, who secured third place in 1:00.7. In the shortest sprint of the day, Ryder Smith earned a silver medal in the 100m, crossing the finish line in 12:03.
The distance crew also found success, led by Garrett Plikerd, who took second place in the 1600m with a time of 5:13.51.
Tiffin’s relay teams were a dominant force throughout the meet, particularly the 4x200 Realy. The team of Maxwell Taylor, Jentson Halcomb, Adrian Beers, and Ryder Smith took the top spot with a time of 1:40.84. The Tornadoes also picked up second-place finishes in the 4x400 (Taylor, Jerid Schatzinger, Morris, and Halcomb) and the 4x800 (Luke Miller, Robert Miller, Bishop Kisabeth, and Plikerd). The 4x100 team of Jaxon Weickert, Kegan Meyer, Beers, and Smith added a third-place finish to the tally.
In the field events, Jaxon Weickert launched a 41’5.5 toss in the shot put to earn second place, while Tyler Miller leaped 14’5 in the long jump to claim third, rounding out a productive day for the Tiffin program.
