Tiffin - Columbian hosted the Bill Krause Invitational on Saturday, finishing sixth in a competitive 11-team field. Fremont Ross captured the team title with 144.5 points, followed by Perrysburg with 100.5 and Notre Dame Academy with 80.5. Oak Harbor placed fourth at 80, Rocky River was fifth with 67.5, and Columbian totaled 64 points. Sandusky (46), Clyde (37), Bowsher (24), Perkins (12), and Central Catholic (5) rounded out the standings.
Columbian was led by strong performances in both the relays and field events. The 4x200 relay team of Josie Kancler, Ava Newman, Kennedy Wilhelm, and Caroline Newlove earned a third-place finish in 1:52.51, while the 4x400 relay of Newlove, Emma Musgrave, Sophia Miller, and Wilhelm also placed third in 4:20.17. The 4x100 relay team of Kancler, Abby Lewis, Morgan Roach, and Newman added a fifth-place finish in 52.51, and the 4x800 quartet of Genna Cleveland, Lilly Allen, Maddie Kelley, and Gabby Hohman took seventh in 10:57.20.
In individual track events, Caroline Newlove placed fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 27.41 and added another fourth-place finish in the 300 hurdles in 49.90. Emma Musgrave took fifth in the 800 meters in 2:29.56, while Carmen Lewis scored in both distance races, finishing seventh in the 1600 (5:42.06) and sixth in the 3200 (12:09.73). Izzy Thompson added a seventh-place finish in the 100 hurdles in 17.73, and Kennedy Wilhelm placed eighth in the 400 meters in 1:05.23.
The Tornadoes found additional success in the field events. Abby Lewis cleared 5-0 to finish second in the high jump, and Tara Duffy was runner-up in the discus with a throw of 108-1 while also placing eighth in the shot put at 30-2. Ava Newman added a fourth-place finish in the pole vault at 8-6, and Sophia Miller placed eighth in the long jump with a mark of 14-7.
