Sandusky - The Tiffin Columbian boys tennis team grinded out a gritty 3-2 road victory against Sandusky on Tuesday, moving their overall record to 6-4 and 4-3 in league play. In a match defined by tight margins and high-pressure tiebreakers, the Tornadoes relied on a dominant doubles performance and a crucial straight-sets win in singles to secure the team result.

Columbian found its most consistent success on the doubles courts. The first doubles duo of Liam Randell and Grant Blonde set the tone with a decisive 6-2, 6-2 victory over Sandusky’s Liam Chamberlain and Ian Stiner. Not to be outdone, the second doubles team of Jarrett Jaeck and Brady Miller delivered a nearly flawless performance, coasting to a 6-0, 6-1 win against Ashton Chapman and Zeke Cutcher to put the Tornadoes in a strong position.

The match ultimately hinged on the singles courts, where Sandusky put up a fierce fight. In the second singles slot, Columbian's Brock Siesel provided the necessary third point for the team win, fending off Brady Mullins in a competitive 6-1, 7-5 match.

Sandusky managed to claim the other two singles points in marathon fashion. At first singles, Columbian’s Dravyn Dicken battled through a grueling three-set match against Blake Ott, eventually falling in a 10-4 super-tiebreaker after splitting the first two sets. A similar scene played out at third singles, where Parker Nye took the opening set 6-4 before Ishan Chopra rallied to win the second set and the ensuing tiebreaker 10-8.

Despite the narrow finishes in singles, the Tornadoes' depth proved to be the difference maker. Columbian will look to carry this momentum back home as they prepare to host Perkins this coming Thursday.
