Norwalk - The Tiffin Middle School boys track team secured a hard-fought victory against Norwalk, finishing the meet with a narrow 66-61 win. The win was anchored by several dominant individual performances and high-stakes relay finishes that kept the Tornadoes ahead in the team standings.
Ryder Smith proved to be a force on the track, sweeping both the 100m and 200m dashes with times of 11.9 and 25.7, respectively. Smith’s speed also powered the 4x200 relay team, which included Maxwell Taylor, Jentson Halcomb, and Adrian Beers, to a first-place finish in 1:43.1. Halcomb added to the team's gold medal count by winning the 200m hurdles in 28.7 seconds.
In the distance events, Garrett Plikerd took the top spot in the 1600m with a time of 5:27.3, while Luke Miller and Bishop Kisabeth provided critical points with podium finishes in the 800m. The 4x800 and 4x400 relay teams both secured second-place finishes, ensuring a steady stream of points throughout the afternoon.
The Tornadoes were equally impressive in the field events. Jaxon Weickert claimed first in the shot put with a toss of 38’4”, and Brock Fox took the discus title with a throw of 96’0”. On the jumping side, Tyler Miller won the long jump at 15’6”, and Connor Fritts led a one-two finish in the pole vault, clearing 5’6” alongside teammate Robert Miller. These combined efforts across the track and field allowed TMS to hold off Norwalk’s late-meet surge and secure the team win.
