Tiffin - Columbian dropped a tightly contested pitchers’ duel Friday, falling 3-0 to Clyde despite a strong outing on the mound from Jaxson Little.
Both teams received quality pitching, but Clyde capitalized on its opportunities in the second inning. A double down the left field line started the rally, followed by a single to center and another double to left. Each hit drove in a run, accounting for all three of Clyde’s scores.
Little was solid for the Tornadoes, recording all 18 outs in his six innings of work. The right-hander allowed three runs on five hits while striking out six and walking one.
Clyde’s starter kept Columbian off the scoreboard, limiting the Tornadoes to just two hits over six and two-thirds innings while striking out 12.
Conner Reese and Little accounted for Columbian’s only hits of the game. Little also created pressure on the bases, stealing two bags.
