Tiffin Columbian Athletic Department Announces Resignation of Head Swim Coach Paul Fortney
TIFFIN, OHIO — The Tiffin Columbian Athletic Department has announced the resignation of Head Swim Coach Paul Fortney, effective immediately. Fortney has led the Tornadoes swimming program since 2022 and leaves behind a period of significant success and growth, particularly within the Lady Tornadoes program.
During his tenure, the Lady Tornadoes compiled an outstanding 32–6 dual meet record while capturing 10 invitational titles. Under Fortney’s leadership, Columbian swimmers established seven of the school’s 10 swimming records, all of which are currently held by Fortney-coached athletes.
The 2024-25 season marked a historic year for the program. The Lady Tornadoes earned the program’s first-ever conference championship and completed an undefeated regular season. Columbian also had representation in all 11 events at the Division I Northwest District Championships, further highlighting the program’s depth and development.
On the Boys side, the Tornadoes continued to show progress and competitiveness. Since 2022, the boys program posted a 12–23 record and produced 14 Division II district qualifiers, demonstrating continued growth and individual achievement.
“The Tiffin Columbian Athletic Department would like to thank Coach Fortney for his dedication, leadership, and commitment to our student-athletes and swimming program,” said the Athletic Department in a statement. “His impact on our swimmers, both in and out of the pool, has helped elevate the program and establish a strong foundation for future success. We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
