CLYDE – In a battle that came down to the wire, the Columbian boys tennis team fell just short on Thursday, dropping a tough 3-2 decision on the road against a strong Clyde squad. The loss brings the Tornadoes to a 5-3 overall record and 3-2 in conference play.

Columbian found its rhythm in the singles lineup. Junior Brock Siesel put on a dominant performance at 2nd Singles, defeating Connor Eastby 6-1, 6-2. Senior Parker Nye followed suit at 3rd Singles, displaying great composure in a tight second set to secure a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Alex Barrett.

Clyde, however, managed to sweep the remaining courts. Aric Kauble took the 1st Singles match against Dravyn Dicken, while the Tornadoes' doubles teams of Grant Blonde/Liam Randell and Brady Miller/Jarrett Jaeck battled through several long rallies but ultimately fell to the home team's pairings.

On the JV side, the Tornadoes found success as Christian Keefe and Jayden Yetter both walked away with victories.

The team won’t have to wait long for a chance at redemption. In a quick turnaround, Columbian will host this same Clyde team tomorrow at 4:00 PM. Given how closely contested today's matches were, the rematch is expected to be a high-stakes showdown on the Tornadoes' home courts.
