TIFFIN – The Tiffin Middle School (TMS) boys track and field team put together a strong collective effort tonight, earning a second-place team finish with 168.5 points. The Tornadoes finished ahead of Calvert (60) and New Riegel (9) while chasing a deep Briar Middle School squad (241.5).
The Tornadoes were led by a group of high-impact performers who secured several first-place finishes. Ryder Smith showcased elite speed, taking the gold in the 100m Dash with a time of 11.71. Smith later joined forces with Jentson Halcom, Patrick Beers, and Adrian Beers to capture first place in the 4x200 Relay (1:42.58). Jayden Morris also stood atop the podium after a winning run in the 400m Dash (59.66), while Garrett Plikerd dominated the 1600m run with a first-place time of 5:26.77. In the field, Brock Fox led the throwing events with a first-place toss of 85-03 in the Discus.
The team's depth was on full display as several athletes secured multiple podium spots. Garrett Plikerd added a second-place finish in the 800m (2:25.68), while Jentsen Halcom took the runner-up spot in the 200 Hurdles (28.90). In the Shot Put, Jaxon Weickert earned second place with a mark of 37-09. The 4x800 Relay team of Luke Miller, Colten Whitmer, Robert Miller, and Plikerd also earned a silver medal with a time of 10:50.19.
Further scoring contributions came from across the roster to solidify the team's runner-up status. Adrian Beers took third in the 100m Dash, and Jerid Schatzinger earned third-place honors in both the 400m and the 200 Hurdles. Luke Miller added a third-place finish in the 1600m, while Dylan Snyder placed third in the 110 Hurdles. Finally, Colten Quinlan rounded out the scoring in the field with a third-place finish in the Discus. The well-rounded performance highlights a promising season ahead for the TMS boys.
