MANSFIELD – The JV Softball team faced a tough road test on Monday, falling 14-2 to a potent Madison Comprehensive squad. Despite the final score, the Tornadoes played a clean game defensively and showed a persistent approach against high-level pitching.
Columbian’s defense remained disciplined throughout the contest, finishing the day without committing a single error. Audrey Sharp anchored the field with three chances and provided a spark on the basepaths, leading the team with two stolen bases.
At the plate, the Tornadoes managed four hits against a dominant opposing starter who recorded 13 strikeouts. Ariella Banks delivered the offensive highlight for the Tornadoes, going 1-for-2 and driving in a run. Sharp, Bailey Barnes, and Kaylani MacDonald each added hits to the team's total, ensuring the Tornadoes put runners in motion throughout the game.
Autumn England earned the start in the circle, striking out two over three innings. While the Madison lineup capitalized on a flurry of early doubles and patient plate appearances, the Tornadoes continued to battle through every frame.
JV Softball will look to build on their error-free defensive performance as they continue their season. They will host Norwalk tomorrow.
