CLYDE – The Tiffin Columbian boys track and field team traveled to Clyde to compete in a deep field at the Clyde Hybrid Invitational, finishing seventh overall with a team score of 46.5. Anthony Wayne took the top spot in the team standings with 79.5 points. The Tornadoes saw strong performances across the board, particularly in the sprint relays and field events, as they competed against powerhouse programs like Sandusky, Elyria, and host Clyde.
Jeremiah Dickerson led the individual sprinting efforts for Columbian, securing a third-place finish in the 100M Dash with a time of 11.41. Dickerson also anchored the 4x200 Relay team—alongside Dashawn Russell, Dazarius Russell, and Amar’e Legrant—to an impressive third-place finish, crossing the line in 1:33.28. In the 4x100 Relay, the team of James Thompson, Draven Steele, Parker Szablewski, and Carson Myers earned a sixth-place finish with a time of 55.33.
The Tornadoes' distance runners put together a solid day of scoring. In the 1600m, Conner Dukeshire and Marcelino Gallardo finished nearly back-to-back, taking seventh (4:58.45) and eighth (4:58.53) place, respectively. The relay teams also showed grit in the longer events, as the 4x800 Relay team of Owen Hoyda, Gallardo, Nathan Gaietto, and Landon Hinke took sixth (9:44.57). The Sprint Medley Relay team finished fourth in 4:00.04, while the Distance Medley Relay squad secured fifth place with a time of 11:41.51.
Draven Steele provided a significant boost in the throwing events, scoring in both disciplines. Steele took fifth place in the Discus with a toss of 124’7” and added an eighth-place finish in the Shot Put with a mark of 37’6”. In the Pole Vault, Drew Newman cleared 10’0” to take sixth place, while Vinnie Busdeker followed in seventh place with a vault of 9’6”.
The Invitational featured unique mixed relay events where Columbian found great success. The 4x400 Mixed Relay team, featuring Kennedy Wilhelm, Caroline Newlove, Dashawn Russell, and Amar’e Legrant, delivered one of the best results of the day, taking second place with a time of 3:54.11. Additionally, the 4x100 Mixed Relay team of Abby Lewis, Ava Newman, Titan Neuman, and Jakobi Jackson took sixth place in 50.12.
