Columbian dropped a tightly contested match to undefeated Port Clinton, falling 3-2 on Wednesday.
At singles, Dravyn Dicken beat Kai Weit of Port Clinton 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 in a competitive three-set battle at first singles. Brock Siesel also went three sets at second singles before dropping a 6-2, 6-2 decision to Charley Kruse. Liam Randell lost at third singles, defeating Payton Wadsworth 6-4, 6-4.
In doubles play, Jarrett Jaeck and Evan Lovett were defeated by Zach Speer 6-1, 6-0 at first doubles. The second doubles team of Parker Nye and Bentley Schoch battled Alex DeFreitas and Aero Wyler before falling 6-4, 6-3.
Columbian’s junior varsity winner was Lucas Widman.
Despite the narrow loss, the Tornadoes pushed the undefeated Redskins in a match that featured strong tennis from both teams.
Columbian returns to action Thursday with a trip to Bellevue.
