Tiffin - The Columbian boys track and field team finished third in a tri-meet Tuesday, totaling 42 points behind Fremont Ross (96.5) and Sandusky (43).

The Tornadoes were led by several runner-up finishes, including strong performances in relays and the middle-distance events. The 4x200 relay team of Jeremiah Dickerson, Dashawn Russell, Lukas Smyser and Amar’e Legrant placed second in 1:34.46. Columbian also finished second in the 4x400 relay, as Dickerson, Russell, Xavier Melick and Legrant posted a time of 3:50.34.

The 4x800 relay team of Marcelino Gallardo, Owen Hoyda, Nathan Gaietto and Brock Arebaugh added another runner-up finish with a time of 10:00.78.

Individually, Legrant led Columbian on the track with a second-place finish in the 400 meters (54.31). Melick added a runner-up finish in the 800 meters in 2:15.72, while Draven Steele placed second in the shot put with a throw of 39-7. Bishop Taylor also earned second in the high jump by clearing 5-4.

Columbian added several third-place finishes, including Jeremiah Dickerson in both the 100 meters (11.40) and 200 meters (24.48). Russell placed third in the 400 meters (54.37), while Titan Neuman finished third in the high jump at 5-2. Drew Newman added a third-place finish in the pole vault with a clearance of 10-0.

Additional scoring came from fourth-place finishes by Russell in the 200 meters (24.54) and Lukas Smyser in the 400 meters (56.24). Conner Dukeshire placed fourth in the 800 meters (2:16.67), while Melick finished fourth in the 1600 meters (5:05.48) and Marcelino Gallardo added a fourth-place finish in the 3200 meters (10:56.84).

Jakobi Jackson also cleared 5-2 for fourth in the high jump, while Vinnie Busdeker finished fourth in the pole vault (9-0). Steele added a fourth-place finish in the discus with a throw of 128-3.

The Boys travel to Clyde on Friday for the Clyde Hybrid Invitational
