Tiffin - The Columbian girls track and field team placed second in a tri-meet Tuesday, finishing with 54 points behind Fremont Ross (81) and ahead of Sandusky (36).

The Tornadoes were led by several first-place finishes, including a sweep in the pole vault. Ava Newman cleared 8 feet, 6 inches to win the event, while Madie Hardina finished second at 8-0. Tara Duffy added another victory in the discus with a throw of 104-11.

Columbian also captured the 4x800 relay, as the team of Carmen Lewis, Maddie Kelley, Genna Cleveland and Lily Allen posted a winning time of 10:53.91.

The Tornadoes added multiple runner-up finishes throughout the meet. Abby Lewis placed second in the high jump at 4-8, while Josie Kancler took second in the long jump with a leap of 14-2½. Caroline Newlove was second in both the 100-meter dash (13.64) and 200-meter dash (27.87), and Carmen Lewis finished second in the 800 meters in 2:36.63. Maddie Kelley added a runner-up finish in the 3200 meters with a time of 13:57.35.

Columbian showed depth with several additional top-three finishes. Kancler added a fourth-place finish in the high jump (4-6), while Sophia Miller placed third in the long jump (14-2). Duffy finished third in the shot put with a throw of 30-10½.

On the track, Gabby Hohman and Aubrey Myers placed third and fourth, respectively, in the 1600 meters. Carmen Lewis added a third-place finish in the 400 meters, while Leah Weingart and Korryn Potts placed second and third in the 300 hurdles. Emma Musgrave added a third-place finish in the 800 meters.
