Findlay - Columbian Varsity Softball was unable to slow down Liberty-Benton on Tuesday, falling 10-0 in a game highlighted by a seven-run fifth inning by the visitors.
Columbian’s pitching and defense kept the game close early, but Liberty-Benton broke the game open with a big fifth inning that put the Tornadoes in a hole they couldn’t recover from.
Offensively, Columbian managed just two hits, collected by Maizie Mellott and Gabriella Conley, but the team was unable to produce runs. Mellott took the loss, giving up two runs on two hits over three and one-third innings, striking out four and walking three.
The Tornadoes will look to rebound on Wednesday when they return home to host Perkins.
