TIFFIN — Columbian Boys Tennis earned a hard-fought win Monday, defeating Fremont Ross 3-2 in a match that came down to third singles. Parker Nye delivered the clinching victory, rallying for a 7-5, 6-4 win to secure the team result and keep the Tornadoes unbeaten at 3-0.
Columbian opened the match with wins at first and second singles. Dravyn Dicken defeated Charlie Kramer 6-1, 6-4 at first singles, while Brock Siesel turned in a dominant performance at second singles, blanking Jack Swinehart 6-0, 6-0.
With Fremont Ross taking both doubles matches, the team outcome hinged on third singles. Nye answered the call, battling through a tight first set before pulling away for the straight-sets win that sealed the match for Columbian.
Fremont Ross picked up wins at first doubles, where Brandon Fry and Logan Wensinger defeated Grant Blonde and Liam Randell 6-1, 6-2, and at second doubles, as Carson Lewis and Casen Schwochow topped Jarrett Jaeck and Carson Hayes 6-0, 6-2.
In junior varsity play, Jack Dell and Ian Cortez recorded wins for Columbian.
Columbian will travel to Perkins on Tuesday to continue Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division play.
