Tiffin Columbian Boys Compete at NW District Swim Championships

Bowling Green, Ohio – The Tiffin Columbian High School boys swim team competed at the 2026 OHSAA Northwest District Division II Swimming and Diving Championships held at Bowling Green State University, with several strong individual performances and relay efforts.

Senior standout Braden Staib led the way for the Tornadoes, posting a personal-best performance in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.46 seconds, good for 13th place in the district and 72nd statewide. Staib continued his strong meet in the 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 51.44 seconds, earning 14th in the district and 62nd in the state.

Junior Austin Poignon also represented Columbian in the sprints, finishing 18th in the 50 free (23.66) and placing 23rd in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.29.

The Tornadoes’ relay squads turned in competitive swims as well. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the Tiffin Columbian A team of Poignon, Nolan Danielson, Parker Szablewski, and Staib posted a season-best 1:38.36, earning 15th in the district and 55th in the state. The same quartet also competed in the 400-yard freestyle relay, finishing 16th at 3:41.59 and ranking 54th statewide.
