Aaron Simmons
Originally from Southern California, Aaron Simmons was born on May 22, 1989, in Escondido and raised in San Marcos. He graduated from Mission Hills High School in 2007, where he was a multi-sport athlete competing in football, wrestling, and volleyball. After high school, he continued his volleyball career at Palomar College as an outside hitter, helping lead the team to two semifinal appearances. He later transferred to Southern New Hampshire University, where he transitioned to the libero position and was part of a team that won a Division III national championship while completing his studies to become a teacher. During his college years, he began coaching volleyball at both the club and high school levels. His coaching career has since expanded to the collegiate level, where he served as an assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s programs at his alma mater, Palomar College. He later became the winningest coach in the history of University of Saint Katherine in San Marcos, California. As a club coach, he has earned national-level medals with both boys’ and girls’ teams. Before relocating to Ohio, he also found great success at the high school level, leading Victory Christian Academy to championships in the San Diego Section, Southern California Regional, and the California Division V State Championship. Outside of coaching, he enjoys an active lifestyle and spending time outdoors. His hobbies include beach volleyball, skateboarding, surfing, camping, and snowboarding. He is recently married to his college sweetheart, Shaun—who also played collegiate volleyball in San Diego—and together they have a three-year-old yellow Labrador named Castle.
