Paul Fortney
Coach Paul Fortney is the Head Varsity Swim Coach at Tiffin Columbian High School, bringing eight years of coaching experience and a background in competitive swimming while focusing on developing disciplined, resilient student-athletes through strong fundamentals, technical growth, and a culture of continuous improvement. Since taking over the program in 2022, he has led the Lady Tornadoes to 10 invitational championships and the most successful season in program history in 2025, highlighted by the team’s first conference title, an undefeated regular season, and nine Division I District qualifiers representing TC in every event; under his leadership, the girls hold a 32–6 record with athletes he has coached owning seven of the program’s ten school records, while the boys have produced fourteen Division II District qualifiers. More than 85 percent of TC swimmers have earned honor roll or scholar-athlete recognition, including a 2025 Academic All-American. Coach Fortney and his wife, Kendullin, both TC alumni, raised three children who proudly competed as Tornado athletes, all of whom continued their education at Heidelberg University, with two competing as collegiate student-athletes, and he remains grateful for the opportunity to give back to the school and community that helped shape his family.
